For hundreds of years, The Four Vices have been depicted in a myriad of art forms. These cuff links represent Gary Taxali's re-imagination of the traditional gentleman's vices of women, liquor, cards, and horses. Taxali, whose artistic style is reminiscent of a bygone era, treats this subject matter in a cheeky and refreshing way, presenting the vices with a modern twist. As Taxali says, "Like a good vice, cuff links never go out of style."
The vice of cards and gambling is cleverly depicted as a man cowering under a house of cards, perhaps showing the effects of one too many (or too little) games of poker. "Other than the occasional poker game with the same gang every three or four months, I've never been an avid player. l am humbled by my lack of ability to win the big pot. But hey, it's not whether you win or lose, its, 'whens the pizza coming?'," muses Gary.
